Standard Operating Procedures
1. Introduction
This SOP is designed to provide guidelines for the operations of the Fire and EMS departments within TFW. The goal is to ensure a realistic, efficient, and safe roleplay environment.
2. Organizational Structure
- There are NO RANKS. Everyone is equal. No one gives orders. Failure to follow this rule will get you removed from the community.
- If you want, as a department (players online playing together) want to pick someone to organize efforts, that is acceptable as long as it is a mutual team effort and everyone knows they are all equal and it’s not orders being given, it’s organization.
3. Communication Protocols
- Radio Communications:
- Use designated radio channels for Fire and EMS.
- Follow clear, concise communication protocols: identify yourself, state your location, and the nature of your message.
- Emergency codes should be used for clarity (e.g., Code 3 for emergency response with lights and sirens).
- Dispatch:
- All units must check in with dispatch at the start of their shift.
- Units must report their status to dispatch regularly (e.g., en route, on scene, available).
- Use clear speech and avoid 10 codes.
4. Response Procedures
- Emergency Response:
- Upon receiving a call, units must respond promptly and safely.
- Use appropriate routes and adhere to traffic laws unless responding with lights and sirens.
- Scene size-up should be conducted upon arrival to assess the situation and determine additional resources needed.
- Fire Incidents:
- Ensure the safety of all personnel and civilians.
- Utilize proper firefighting techniques based on the type of fire (e.g., structure fire, vehicle fire).
- Medical Emergencies:
- Assess the patient using the ABCs (Airway, Breathing, Circulation).
- Provide appropriate medical care and stabilization.
- Prepare for transport to the nearest medical facility if necessary.
- If patient prefers “county” transport, call for that.
5. Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance
- Vehicles
- Only Fire and Ambulance and Medical Helicopters are allowed for Fire/EMS use.
